Project Management

Project Methodology

In order to expedite projects and ensure success, a general methodology is followed. The purpose of the Project Methodology is to provide all members involved in the project with a standardized set of activities, milestones and expectations for required activities. Although each opportunity is unique, the following heuristics are followed for each project.

Assessment

CTI begins the process by understanding the client organization, its industry, and its information requirements with an assessment, usually consisting of a visit to the client's site. This assessment determines how the technology can best affect the client's environment. By establishing time lines and goals with the client, CTI identifies and establishes environment needs and performance criteria. This phase consists of discussions with both IT and financial personnel. The result is a recommendation of how the specific technology should be utilized. The recommendation typically includes:

  • Features that can positively impact the client's environment
  • Recommendations in which the client would benefit from a proposed technology.

Design

After agreeing on the initial detail plan, all parties review the discovery analysis document. The design phase will depend on the customer's budget and work area. Recommendations typically include:

  • Developing a database scheme
  • Designing Business Process Model
  • Designing User Interface
  • Designing Business Components
  • Designing Security Strategy

It is recommended that design engineers perform the bulk of these tasks on-site and in conjunction with the customer's IT staff. The time required for a design is dependent upon the size of the network, as well as the availability of detailed and accurate network documentation.

Construction / Testing

Before the actual construction stage, both parties will review issues, come to resolutions and go forth with recommendations. These steps will validate the details necessary to go forward with the actual construction. Previously undocumented requirements may be uncovered in this phase. If so, they will be tested and incorporated with the overall design and implementation plan. After resolving the schematics, the next step is to setup the business environment. This is achieved through building user interfaces and business components, which will en¬able the end-user to configure settings as needed. Logical and physical system designs are created, tested, and validated for real time operations. As the development pro¬gresses, developers are continuously monitored by the Quality Assurance team.

Implementation

The implementation phase is the point at which the new technology is installed in the customer environment. This phase includes:

  • Identifying users and their individual requirements
  • Scheduling training and installation for each department
  • Making user-specific configuration changes
  • Installing / configuring product
  • Providing on-site support hardware / software
  • Set-up security measures

Maintenance & Support

Once the new technology is in place, it must be properly maintained. This includes the development of maintenance policies and procedures. We perform the following maintenance procedures:

  • Preventive Maintenance Procedures
  • Change Control Procedures
  • Regular Follow-Ups

To ensure continuous business operations throughout the process, contingency plans are created in advance, and are ready to deploy if necessary.
